Leech/cupping therapy

When treating with leeches, leeches are placed on a suitable spot so that they cause a small bloodletting. From a naturopathic perspective, the leech saliva and the antispasmodic effect of hirudin stimulate the flow of blood and improve wound healing. This accelerates lymphatic drainage and causes bleeding in the area where the leeches have bitten. Experience has shown that leech therapy is used in practice for a number of illnesses.
